Birgitta Padberg, appointed as new Managing Director of Groot Handelsgebouw

Rotterdam, 10 August 2018 – As of 1 September, Birgitta Padberg begins her new function as Managing Director of the Groot Handelsgebouw. Birgitta Padberg will work with the current team to manage the building and to give shape to the ambitions of its new owner. The Groot Handelsgebouw has recently become the property of American company, HighBrook Investors.

Birgitta Padberg has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate and is currently Associate Director at Cushman & Wakefield. With her office at Weena, she has enjoyed a view of the Groot Handelsgebouw over the years. ‘I know the Groot Handelsgebouw well. The floorspace and the architecture make it such a spectacular building. It is a robust and authentic national monument with a rich diversity of tenants,’ explains Birgitta Padberg.

HighBrook Investors aspires to further improve the accessibility and multifunctionality of what is currently the largest multi-tenant office building of the Netherlands. Birgitta Padberg is excited. ‘There are plenty of spaces of the Groot Handelsgebouw yet to be discovered. It would be fantastic if we could make the expansive roof terrace of 7,000 m2 open to the public. We also want to optimise the routing in and around the building. I look forward to taking on this challenge.’

About the Groot Handelsgebouw

Under one roof, it offers 100,000m2 of offices, storage, shops, restaurants and cafés to more than 200 tenants. The Groot Handelsgebouw is a small city all on its own, directly next to Rotterdam Central Station. The meeting place for entrepreneurial Rotterdammers and active global citizens.
